The Evergreen Twig
project for a sculpture in Rosarium Park, Kazanlak, Bulgaria

The project was made for a competition for a sculpture in public space, more precisely for Rosarium Park, Kazanlak, Bulgaria.

The Evergreen Twig is a minimalist sculpture that evolves in an upward spiral - a symbol of continuous development.

The first elements of the composition are set firmly on the foundation, creating a sense of stability of reliability and in the same time, a feeling that the leaves start to draw out of the heavy base. A gradual upward movement begins starting from the solid foundation. Delicately hinted at the beginning, it becomes more palpable in the spiral of development and culminates in the last leaf, which is almost vertically upright and directed to the sky.

The sculpture is made up of 8 steel plates shaped as leaves. Six of the plates are identical and the two top ones are slightly smaller. The stainless steel sheets are 5 mm thick. The plates are supported by three tubular elements with a diameter D = 60 mm, which are slightly twisted to create a sense of organic material (twigs).
The entire composition will be attached to a metal plate that lies on and is anchored to the foundation. This will ensure enough reliable attachment of the work that has a dislocated center of mass.

The total weight of the sculpture together with the metal mounting plate, is about 650-700 kg - a load that will be supported safely by the foundation.
The provided material - stainless steel, is strong enough to withstand weather and other influences.
